Add a site

A site in Tinylytics is one domain and its dashboard. The URL is the address visitors actually land on.

If this is the first site on the account, the welcome screen after email confirmation is already the form. Enter the URL and press Create my first site. To add another, press Add + on the sites list. A friendly name is optional and only changes what you see in the list. On Ultra you can also choose between a Full Analytics Site and an Uptime Monitor Only, which is useful when you want to watch something you have no interest in measuring.

The URL is the one decision worth slowing down for. Tinylytics only serves the embed script to the hostname you enter here, so use the address visitors actually land on. The www and apex pair is treated as one: example.com and www.example.com both count. A different hostname — blog.example.com, a preview URL, localhost — will not, unless you turn on Accept hits from any domain under Settings → Tracking. To preview widgets on localhost without counting anything, turn on Developer mode there instead.

After you save

You land on the new site’s Overview. Until a hit arrives, a Let’s get you started box sits there with the embed snippet. Afterwards the snippet lives under Settings → Tracking, along with a line that tells you when the first hit arrived.

A development or preview hostname that does not match the domain you configured records nothing at all — that is the point of the restriction, not a bug to work around. If you genuinely want numbers from staging, add it as a second site and keep the two apart.
