You can now ignore IP addresses on all your sites at once and switch a site to monitoring only. The embed script also has new options. The aim is less repeated setup and more accurate numbers.
Ignore IP addresses on every site
Instead of adding your IP to each site, you can add it once under Account → Ignore rules → IP addresses. These rules work alongside each site's own rules, and each site's IP panel now shows an "Account-wide addresses" row. The list takes up to 50 entries, and no range can be wider than /8 for IPv4 or /32 for IPv6. On a team account only the owner can edit it; admins and co-owners can see it but can't change it. It applies from now on, so hits already recorded stay (docs).
Your first visit, live
The get-started panel on a new site's Overview now updates live. It shows "Waiting for your first visit…" until the first counted page view arrives, then changes to "It's working!" with a "See your stats" button. Events on their own don't trigger it. Test on your live site, not localhost, in a private window or another browser.
Monitoring only
If a site only needs monitoring, paid plans can use Settings → General → Analytics → "Switch to monitoring only". "Turn on full analytics" switches it back. Switching hides your data but doesn't delete it. The script still records visits while it stays on the page, so remove it to stop sending them. Insights, traffic-spike and drop-off alerts, SEO audits and the public stats page stop. Weekly email reports turn off and stay off after you switch back, until you turn them on again. Widgets, stat cards and the webring don't change (docs).
New sites also have "Check the embed script first" turned on by default under Collection dropoff, an Ultra feature, so quiet days trigger fewer false drop-off alerts. Existing sites keep their setting (docs).
Embed script
-
replaceStateno longer counts as a page view. OnlypushStateand back/forward do, which fixes inflated views on search boxes and filters. -
data-spa="false"turns off history tracking for single-page apps. - Clicks and events sent before the site's settings load are now queued and sent instead of lost. The settings request also retries once.
-
data-ignoredraws widgets but sends no views or events. -
window.tinylytics.beforeSendrewrites or skips a URL. The script also addswindow.tinylytics.event(name, value)andwindow.tinylytics.ready. -
data-kudos-symbolsets the Kudos symbol for each button, and a blank symbol no longer leaves a stray space.
The script is cached for up to 4 hours, so some visitors will get these changes a little later. See the embed and Kudos docs.
Moving from the old embed
The embed docs now have a "Moving from the old embed" section, and the old tag's auto option now carries over to automatic events. Options carry over only when the account owner opens the Overview notice or Settings → Tracking, and only if no widget setting has been saved yet. Nothing copies over when the new script first loads, so check Settings → Tracking → Widgets before you swap. Agents can read the old options as legacy_embed_options through the API and MCP.
