Tinylytics has a new, simpler embed script, and widgets are now set up in Settings instead of on the script URL. That way the snippet on your site stays the same, whichever widgets you turn on.
A simpler embed script
The new install snippet is <script defer src="https://tinylytics.app/js/script.js" data-site="SITE_ID"></script>. You now switch on and style widgets such as the hit counter and kudos in Settings → Tracking → Widgets. Widget settings are also available over the API and the MCP, where changing them needs a full-access key.
The old /embed/<id>.js script keeps working, so nothing breaks if you don't switch. If you do switch, check Settings → Tracking → Widgets first. Your current options are filled in from what we recorded, but only if you haven't saved a widget setting yet, and we've only recorded old options since 26 October. Automatic events (?auto) don't carry over, so turn them on yourself. ?spa, ?ignore and /min have no setting. The embed docs explain how to switch from the old script.
Cleaner stats
Tinylytics no longer counts hits from cloud hosting networks such as AWS, Google Cloud, Alibaba and Tencent, in every country. Bot detection now runs on hits and events sent through the API, and Tor traffic no longer counts. These apply from 21 and 26 October onward; hits already recorded are untouched. If your numbers dipped slightly after 21 or 26 October, this is why. iCloud Private Relay, Cloudflare WARP and similar privacy services still count on purpose.
Archiving keeps your history
From now on, archiving a site pauses its uptime monitor and keeps your hits and uptime history.
Fixes
- The Events export now honours named date ranges such as Last 7 days or This month. Before, it exported everything.
- Webhooks set to "All events" now get deliveries. Before, they got none.
