# Getting started

In this tutorial we will get Tinylytics counting a real page. By the end, a hit will be sitting on Overview. There are no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no consent banner to design — one script tag is the whole installation.

If an AI agent is doing this setup for you, stop here and follow the [instructions for agents](/docs/agent_signup) instead. That path keeps you as the owner of the account.

## Create an account

We sign up at [tinylytics.app](https://tinylytics.app) with an email address and a password, then open the message Tinylytics sends and click the confirmation link.

Confirming is what starts the 14-day trial and what switches collection on. Until that click, Tinylytics will not serve the embed script. If a later step shows zero hits, we come back here first.

After confirming, we land on a screen titled **Welcome to Tinylytics**. That is the expected result, not the sites list.

## Add the site

On that welcome screen we enter the URL visitors actually land on — `https://www.example.com` if that is what we serve, not `localhost` and not a preview host. We can leave the friendly name blank. Leave **Omakase setup** as it is; the boxes are already ticked. Then we press **Create my first site**.

The new site's Overview opens with a **Let's get you started** box and no hits yet. That is expected: nothing has loaded the script.

The `www` and apex pair is treated as one. [Add a site](/docs/getting-started/add-a-site) covers adding a second site later.

## Embed the script

We click the tracking code in the **Let's get you started** box so it copies, and paste it into our pages just before the closing `</body>` tag:

```html
<script defer src="https://tinylytics.app/embed/YOUR_EMBED_CODE.js"></script>
```

The snippet also lives under **Settings → Tracking** whenever you want it again. [Embed the script](/docs/getting-started/embed) has the rest.

## Watch the first hit

We load one of our own pages on the live domain, then refresh Overview. Within a moment the chart should show 1 hit, and the setup box should be gone.

If it stays at zero, we check the confirmation email, then the domain we typed, then view-source for the script tag. [Hits not showing](/docs/troubleshooting/no-hits) is the ordered list.

That is the whole setup. The pages below walk the same four steps with the extra cases — a second site, SPA embeds, the rest of the dashboard.
