# Site settings

**Settings** holds everything about one site. A sidebar groups it into pages: General, Tracking, Appearance, Sharing, and Collaborators; then Email reports and Traffic spikes under Notifications; then Segments, Goals, Ignore rules, Spam, Raw data, and Import & export under Data; and the Danger zone last. On a phone, tap the page title to move between them.

Changes save as you make them. Switches and menus save straight away, and text fields save when you press **Save** on their panel.

## General

General holds the site's address, its label, an optional root path, its avatar, and a notes field.

Notes are a sticky memo for you and for agents that look at this site. They are optional, never required to save, and edited as rich text. Agents see them as plain text on `get_site` / `list_sites`. They are not webring copy or Insights instructions.

The address is the important one. Tinylytics serves the embed script only to the hostname you configured, which is why a mismatch between that setting and the address you actually serve is the most common reason [hits do not show up](/docs/troubleshooting/no-hits).

Timezone is not here, because it is not a property of a site. It lives on your account under **Account → Profile**, and it decides where the day breaks on every chart, what "this week" means, and when the weekly email arrives.

## Tracking

**Settings → Tracking** shows whether hits are arriving, the [embed snippet](/docs/getting-started/embed) and Site ID, and the [pixel](/docs/developer/pixel) for places a script cannot go.

Below that, **What gets counted** holds **Count outbound links and downloads**, **Skip error pages**, **Accept hits from any domain**, and **Developer mode**. Turn on **Accept hits from any domain** when you genuinely serve one site from several hostnames. Turn on **Developer mode** while you build: the script and widgets load on `localhost`, `.test`, `.local`, and private network addresses, and visits, events, and kudos from them are not counted. ## Appearance

**Settings → Appearance** is where you make the dashboard yours: accent colour, the default date range, unique views, the chart and its style (columns or a line), and **Hide detailed stats**.

**Site overview card**, on paid plans, controls what the card for this site shows on your sites page: lifetime views, a traffic graph, or uptime status.

**Tabs** lets you drag Insights, Uptime, Kudos, Community, Content, and Events into the order you use them in, and switch off the ones you do not.

**Stats sections** does the same for the blocks under the chart: Goals, Paths, Top pages (all time), User journeys, Sessions, World map, Countries, Browsers, Platforms, Referrers, Sources, AI agents, and Kudos. Journeys and sessions require a paid plan, and Goals only appears on Overview once you have defined at least one [goal](/docs/analytics/goals). This screen is worth ten minutes: a dashboard trimmed to what you actually read is more useful than one showing everything available.

## Pausing and archiving

Two different ways to stop, for two different reasons.

**Pause** stops collection and keeps every hit you already have. Use it when a site is temporarily off, or when you would rather not record a period at all.

**Archive** takes the site out of your daily list without deleting anything. Use it for a site you have finished with but do not want to lose.

Archive lives under **Settings → Danger zone**, next to deleting the site. Neither pausing nor archiving throws data away.
